For the first time in history every teacher, principal, vice principal, and administrator in Alberta will be on strike. On the weekend 89.5 per cent of the 43,362 teachers voted to strike on October 6th.
Alberta Teachers’ Association president Jason Schilling said the government should be embarrassed by the offer they made last week, and that they’re in “a mess of their own making.”
Premier Danielle Smith, Finance Minister Nate Horner, and Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides will hold a press conference at noon Tuesday to discuss supports available in the event of a strike.
