PHASE ONE OF THE CAPITAL LINE SOUTH EXTENSION PROJECT GETS THE OFFICIAL "GO AHEAD AMID TIMES OF RISING COSTS
The Capital Line South Extension Project got the official "go ahead" on Wednesday when the City has awarded a design build contract to Capital Line Design-Build Ltd., a member of the Ledcor Group of Companies, with AECOM as its design partner. The contract was to build the 4.5 kilometre extension from Century Park to north of Ellerslie Road. The city has already spent more than $70 million to prepare the LRT route in south Edmonton, and now will be paying $242 million more than originally budgeted. Originally, the city was to pay $343 million, but now it will spend $585 million.
Mayor Sohi is the chief cheerleader and budget juggler for the various costly projects but he does have followers on council who keep approving the projects.
Do you think the Capital Line South Extension Project was necessary to do now?
