CITY LAUNCHES WEBSITE TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES
We live in an area of the city that is well off a main thoroughfare yet on any given day there are a number of delivery trucks (Prime, UPS, FedEx, Purolator, etc.) that drive past our home. I assume these trucks are delivering goods purchased at other than local businesses and redirecting money out of the local economy
Edmonton has almost 40,000 local businesses, which account for a large portion of our local economy. It is estimated the for every $100 spent at a local business $66.00 stays in the local economy.
The City of Edmonton has just launched ShopLocal, a local business directory showcasing local businesses. Bookmark the site and shop local.
