Adam Johnson's death has sparked renewed debate and discussion regarding neck protection for hockey players at all levels. The Western Hockey League which includes hhe Edmonton Oil Kings has mandated all teams wear protective neck guard equipment any time they are on the ice, beginning today. Hockey Canada mandates neck protection for all players registered in minor and female hockey. The NHL continues with their policy that neck protection for players remains optional.
