Its difficult for any news, especially other sporting news, to displace the OILERS as #1 on the local news cycle, but there is other news than the OILERS. How's this for starters?

Team Canada manager Jesse Marsch has chosen Edmonton raised international soccer star Alphonso Davies as captain of the squad for the upcoming Copa America tournament and Stephen Eustàquio the team's vice-captain. Marsch said, “Alphonso is a young and experienced professional who has all the tools to be an excellent captain. He has been in the spotlight from a young age and handled it very well, I know that he is up to the challenge of taking on a more expanded role with more responsibility."

Team Canada enters the fast lane against top-ranked Argentina and Lionel Messi in Thursday's Copa America opener in Atlanta. In addition to World Cup champion Argentina, Copa America challenges will include, No. 32 Chile and No. 42 Peru, as steps along the road to the 2026 World Cup, which Canada is co-hosting.
