Alberta's NDP will choose a new leader this weekend and the outcome could have huge effects on Edmonton if one of the candidates from Calgary is elected party leader. Edmonton has been an NDP bastion for years. Not only have the party leaders lived in Edmonton for years but the NDP has swept the city seats the last few elections. The leadership race has two Edmonton MLAs, Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse and Sarah Hoffman, 1 Calgary MLA, , Kathleen Ganley and former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi who is favored to become. If the leader is not chosen on the first ballot the leadership process could make things very interesting. The leader is expected to be chosen and announced tomorrow afternoon.
