In a little more than 1 year, Edmontonians will have the opportunity to vote for mayor and city council and candidates may be well served by the election hangover three ex mayoral candidates have experienced from the 2021 election. The Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) has established and monitors regulations that govern municipal elections in Alberta and candidates who to do not follow the regulations to the letter may be sanctioned as the three ex mayoral candidates have been.

Anyone considering running as a candidate in an Alberta election should familiarize themselves with the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) and spare themselves an election hangover.
