One of the reasons I appreciate Lorne Gunter's columns is that he asks questions and looks beyond the obvious. In the case of the Jasper fire, Gunter looks at and questions the role Parks Canada played or didn't play in the fire. If what he is bringing to the fore is true, then Park's Canada has a lot to explain.

If what Lorne Gunter has brought to the fore is true, Edmontonions need to make certain that Park's Canada has no role to play in the river valley park system.

If you've thought about going to Elk Island Park this summer but getting there presents a problem, have we got a deal for you. Every weekend until mid-September, the TD Elk Island Express departs from downtown Edmonton to Elk Island returning to the city in the afternoon. The bus will stop at the Visitor Information Centre, where the Parks Canada team will offer a one-hour behind-the-scenes tour. After the initial stop, the bus will take visitors 20 minutes north to the Astotin Lake Recreation Area, where they have four hours to enjoy the rest of their visit.

Though the shuttle is free, a $15 deposit is required upon booking to ensure travellers arrive on time for the bus and is refunded once people arrive on time for the scheduled departure.
