Edmonton radio station CKUA was the first public broadcaster in Canada when it began broadcasting in 1927 and it continues broadcasting to this day. CKUA faces numerous challenges and cash reserves are depleted. CKUA operates without government funding and they are counts on donors to help keep the radio station on air.
