Hossein Rouhani chairs a team of researchers from the Glenrose Hospital and the University of Alberta who are working with mind controlled computers, and Tristin Froma is a benefactor of their research. Tristin has cerebral palsy which limits his mobility, but he's now found new independence and freedom by using special software that links his mind with a computer through a headset to control his wheelchair.

Most of the talk regarding Zero Emissions Vehicles has been about EVs (Electric Vehicles) but DARK MATTER MATERIALS, a group of University of Alberta researchers, is ready to change the script. DARK MATTER MATERIALS has focused their research on a different and unique approach to hydrogen technology which they believe has the potential to revolutionize the production and use of hydrogen in vehicles and more.
UofA is proposing to sell what has become known as WEST 240, a piece of farmland they've owned since 1930. At that time it was on the far west reaches of the city but has now become surrounded by Grandview Heights and Lansdowne neighbourhoods.
The proposal goes before City Council on June 11 when they will decide whether to allow the university to develop a required statutory plan. The plan determines municipal services and also sets housing density targets and identifies stages of development. The university has been engaging with Lansdowne and Grandview Heights residents for more than a year about the proposal.
As of now the development plan is for a mostly residential neighbourhood with an estimated future population of about 7,000 people. It would include high rises along 122 street, three story buildings and single family homes. It would include a few small parks and a stormwater management pond and a school in the centre of the community.
If things go according to schedule, crews could start grading the land by the fall of 2025.
