e-Scooters and e-Bikes can and do provide alternative modes of active transportation and that is why the City has selected has selected Bird Canada and Lime, who have previously operated in Edmonton, as vendors, with the possibility of future expansion. In addition the program has been updated to a three-year, year-round term licence of occupation allowing vendors to run when weather permits. A new vendor fees have
been implemented to address concerns over fleet management, parking issues and street clutter and rules for riders will be communicated through the vendor's apps and the city's website.
When I read the following article I was reminded of the Beach Boys 1964 hit "I GET AROUND". I'm sure that whatever they may have been referring to in their song was not the e-bikes and scooters that are now available to rent in Edmonton and other cities. They seem to be growing in popularity and a good way to get around and see the city.
