The closure of the 3 Bay stores in Edmonton will leave BIG retail space vacancies in Southgate, West Edmonton and Kingsway malls. Conventional thinking says there are few, if any, retail companies in North America that could even be considered as possible tenants for those spaces. Avison Young's, Paul Raimundo specializes in retail real estate, and he thinks filling these spaces will probably require "out of the box" solutions and not happen quickly.
Lovleen Singh finished her work shift at West Edmonton Mall and was ready to go home, but when she got to her parked car it became obvious she was going nowhere. Her car was where she parked it, but all the wheels and tires had been stolen. There were no security cameras in the area where Singh parked her car so there is no video evidence of the theft and/or thieves.
It's been years since we first heard of thieves stealing catalytic converters from parked cars. Now Mike (the Mechanic) Bauman says thieves are stealing rims and tires to sell on Facebook, Kijiji, etc. He also said thieves can do much damage to a vehicle when removing the wheels.
If you have any suggestions as to how to prevent thieves from stealing wheels and tires, please post them in the comments.
On Monday 2 people were stabbed at West Edmonton Mall and then taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries then on Tuesday a security guard was killed at a downtown parkade. Although full details on both incidents are not known they do add to the concern citizens for their safety.
