PARENTAL LOVE KNOWS NO BOUNDS

There are some stories when read that reveal what selflessness looks like. That's what happened when I read the accounts of Emma and Joe Pivato and their daughter Alexis. Alexis, who is now 46 was born with a rare genetic mutation which prevented the uptake of calcium into the brain and left her with a great number of medical issues. When Alexis was less than a year old, Emma and Joe decided early to care for at home and that meant drastic changes for them and home life with their 2 other children.

The Pivatos' responded to Alexis' needs with love, grace, resilience and resourcefulness. In the words of Emma "the thing Alexis has done for me is basically to make me a better, nicer person" proving once again that it takes a crucible to produce the purest gold.
